about
I assembled these pieces using a razor knife and glue. They are generally born from pieces of old catalogs, ads and magazines collected from yard sales and flea markets, along with photos, colored pens, postage stamps, junk mail and whatever else looks good.
My original intent was to use these to spur ideas for paintings because I didn’t have the imagination to start with a blank canvas. But I can’t paint, so collage became a chance discovery and a delightfully forgiving medium for someone with no art training. There’s no photoshop or digital graphics at work here because I haven’t yet learned technology and I also think that these would look and feel very different if they came from a computer.
For this “art” - as in life, I look for things that fit together in unusual ways. And I have no idea what will emerge until it’s done.
